Poets For Peace / United Poets Coalition, an international arts campaign, is pleased to announce that Patricia Frisella of Farmington, New Hampshire, is the winner of the Anthony Piccione Memorial “Poets For Peace” Younger Poet Award. The award is co-sponsored by the Poets For Peace/United Poets Coalition, www.smallspiralnotebook.com and www.webdelsol.com’s In Posse Review.
As the part of this award, Ms. Frisella will receive one of the last remaining signed copies of “For The Kingdom,” by the late Anthony Piccione. In addition, her e-chapbook will be published by www.smallspiralnotebook.com and one of her poems will also appear in the future issue of www.webdelsol.com’s In Posse Review.
About Poets For Peace/United Poets Coalition:
Established in late 1990s in response to the humanitarian crisis in the former Yugoslavia, Poets for Peace organized a series of of nationally recognized poetry readings across USA and abroad to support the work of relief organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, Red Cross, United Way, etc. Since terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2002, Poets For Peace readings took place in more than 60 cities in the United States as well as Northern Italy, London and Toronto. Poets who have read for and supported Poets For Peace include former US Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, Joyce Carol Oates, Dana Gioia, and numerous others. All Poets For Peace authors have read their work for free and donated the reading proceeds to the relief organizations.

About Anthony Piccione:
Born in Sheffield, Alabama and raised on Long Island, Anthony Piccione authored four book collections all published by BOA Editions. His first book Anchor Dragging, was chosen by Archibald MacLeish for BOA's New Poets of America Series. His other books include Seeing It Was So, For the Kingdom, and Guests at the Gate. His poetry has appeared in many nationwide publications including American Poetry Review, Ohio Review, The Literary Review, Webdelsol.com and numerous others. For many years Anthony Piccione had taught English and American Poetry at the State University of New York, College at Brockport. His awards include grants from Saltonstall Foundation and the State University of NY. In 2000, Piccione opened and acted as a propriator of Upright Hall, a Residency Writing Retreat for Poets in the hills of Plattsburgh, New York. He was one of the first poets to support Poets For Peace Readings Series and has acted as an unofficial poetry advisor for In Posse Review. Anthony Piccione passed away in the Fall of 2001.
